Massive Panic Attack

This school year my S is going to Pre-K, at the same school I went to and she is thrilled! I on the other hand am having a
Massive Panic Attack
Let me start by saying I have anxiety issues, so this is really throwing me for a loop. As if my panic wasn't exaggerated enough, we got a letter from her school that Pre-K is ALL day and not half day like I thought...

I know I should be excited because she is going off to school, she will learn, I will have 2 kids instead of 3, but I am not :(

She also has to wear uniforms, which consist of khaki or navy pants or skirts, yellow, navy blue or white collared shirts and closed toe shoes. Easy shopping right? Yes, but this little girl has too much pizzaz to be stifled by these wardrobe restrictions. She chooses outfits like this on a daily basis...

Deep down super way deep inside I know she will be fabulous and LOVE school, it's me I'm worried about, but I too will be fine.

Onto a funny story starring miss S. We were all laying down yesterday and she said
"Lulu do you know how babies get in tummies?"
I was intrigued so I listened in
"You eat babies, and swallow them, but don't chew and they get in your tummy. Good thing they are tiny as ants so you won't choke!"

Obviously we have some talking to do, but since she is just 4 we will stick with the eating babies theory for now.

Question of the Day: How did you deal with your first/only child going to school?

  1. "You eat babies and they get in your tummy"-too sweet! As far as my first/only going to Pre-K this year, I had to make it less about me and more about her. It's the beginning of so many things! She will be socializing which is extremely important and learning! I think it's important for both mommy and child to have time apart, even for a little. It was tough at first (believe me) but I just threw my attention/time into other things while she is in school (i.e. grad school and going to the gym). Best of luck, she'll be okay! :)

  2. Abby started half day kindergarten on Tuesday and I have anxiety issues as well! It didn't hit me with a panic until later that night after her first day of school and I am still just taking it one day at a time! I have seriously considered home schooling because of my anxiety of school but I am just trying to trust that God will help me and help watch over my daughter while she is away at school! Hope your anxiety gets better, just take it one day at a time!
