It's Charlie Baby!!!

Happy 1st Birthday to my baby girl Charlie!

Charlie you are a year old now and man oh man has the time flown by! It literally seems like just yesterday when you were born. You looked so tiny and felt so small, but you were our biggest baby at 7 lbs 9 oz.
You are literally the sweetest baby around, you only cry when you need something, which is truly amazing. However you have started a deafening screech/scream when you want something, so we need to nip that and quick before we all go deaf.

Your sisters love you to pieces, and in all seriousness I think at times they will break you into pieces with their "love". But you roll with the punches (pun intended) and let them carry you around, and dress you up and trap you in the bumbo. You have been walking for almost a month now, and you are a pro at it, it is super funny to see you try and "run", really I will have to post a video of that one! You say "mamma", "dadda" and a whole bunch of jibberish. You actually just started saying "mamma" and you laugh whenever I respond to you, so you keep saying it over and over again, please let my neck rest for a bit.
I am so happy that you are my baby girl, and that you came to our family I love you Charlie !!!

A Garage Sale, A Birthday and A Buddy For Life

Last weekend we had a garage sale, it was a mega huge success bust! Yes we raked in all of, a number so low I will not even share, bucks! Let me just put it this way our highest paying customer was my MIL. The highlight of the sale by far was my daughter standing at the end of the driveway yelling things like,

"We have free books for sale!"
"Babies for sale, at a low price!"
oh and my personal favorite
"Butts for sale, get your butts here!"

I really should have videotaped people's faces who heard her shouting these, especially that last one. Oh and did I mention she was wearing a tie dye nightgown and cowgirl boots?

We had this garage sale because we have a LOT of stuff in boxes and we need some money, so we thought extra stuff = extra money. On Friday night Milton and I were going through everything in the attic to determine prices, and I found some awesome pictures, then I saw this one
My bestie and I

I have a friend, she rocks my socks off, she lives super far away , like 2800 miles far, we only see each other a few times a year, but we are still best friends, her name is Karen.

You will often hear us refer to each other as "boo", "babe", "lover" etc. because we love each other, I never knew Freshman year orientation would change my life forever in a good way.

I came into high school a lowly freshman a new student at a school where I knew NO ONE. My "best" friend from middle school was going to this school, so I (naturally) wanted to go to school with her, literally she stopped being my friend in the first week, enter Karen.

We were sitting on the football field in small groups with orientation leaders, and Karen and I bonded over the fact that our leader had never shaved her armpits, seriously more hair then my dad. Nothing against this, if it's your style, but as high school freshman this was a no-no. From that point on we were hooked on each other. Karen had gone to middle school with most of the kids in our freshman class, and I thought she lived in the more "elite" part of town with them, especially since she was wearing a Roxy hoodie (didn't you know wearing Roxy means you are rich?), come to find out she literally lived less then 10 minutes away from me!

Karen and I have had so many good times together, like the times we would drive around the city yelling things out the window of my sweet ride, oh yes I drove a 1989 Ford Aerostar, HOLLA!!
I would always pick Karen up on my way to school in this beauty, I drove her to school everyday for over 2 years. This van was a large and fundamental part of our friendship, we had lots of good times in this van.

In high school we were homebodies, we spent almost every single weekend at my house having sleep overs, the one sleep over I will never forget is when we acted out Jerry Springer with my younger siblings. We drew Chola eyebrows on my sisters and put them in middriff shirts, wish I had a picture of that night, but it truly was as funny as you are imagining.

I have thousands of stories about Karen and I, but they would probably only be really funny to us because that's how these things always go. Bottom line: I really miss her, like A LOT!! She now lives  a little longer then the 8 minute drive I was used to and I miss her :( She is so amazing and inspiring to me, she is almost done with her graduate degree and she is currently teaching kindergarten. Karen you rock and I love you baby!
My favorite picture of her
I may die for posting this, but I had to :)

Now onto the birthday, Monday was my Lulu's 3rd birthday. I decided to take her "shopping" for her birthday. I grabbed my gift cards and coupons and off we went, I bought her 2 new pairs of shoes, and she was so excited. I felt bad because she only got the shoes and I found more stuff for S and Charlie, but they had nothing in her size. We went resale shopping, because that's how we roll in our house, and the size 3T's were all out, it was craziness. I found out that Leila wears a size 9 shoe, I wish I had a picture of her tiny leg in those big shoes, because it's so funny. She wears a 9 and so does S, unbelievable, I know my girl is going to be tall. We had such a fun girls day, I bought her a birthday breakfast AKA a MacDonalds hash brown, we went to visit my grandma, went shopping and had lunch with my grandma, she was so happy all day.

Everyone in our family saw her and said "Happy Birthday" or called her and told her, and every time the conversation went like this:
Lulu- "Hello, it's my birthday"
Everyone else- "Happy Birthday Leila"
L- "Thank you!"
EE- "How old are you Lulu"
L-"um... (she gets off the phone and whispers) how old am I? I am 3!"
EE-"3, you are such a big girl"
L-"I know I am having a 'Niqua birthday party!, Bye I love you"

Then she would hand me the phone, every single time without fail. She is having a Backyardigans birthday party and Uniqua is her favorite character. The best conversation was when she talked to my sister Gabi who is at college, after she handed me the phone she said "She sounds happy mom, I think she is doing really good" it was so sweet!

Question of the Day: How has this week been treating you so far?

Lulu,
I am so blessed and grateful to be your mommy, you are such a funny girl. You always have the biggest and brightest smile that shows all your teeth.

You also are like me, because you think of yourself as a comedian and you are quite funny

When you were born, our life's were crazy, but you certainly were our little bundle of joy.
I have about 100 pictures of you sleeping like this, you weer always in deep thought whenever you went to sleep.

Your hair is just like mommy's super thick and super long, oh except unlike me you have a tender head, it makes for some fun times combing your hair :)

You were only 7 months old in these pictures
look at that hair!!

Lulu Belle, we all love you so much, Happy Birthday baby! Oh an can we please not have the terrible 3's since we already had the terrible 2's? Thank you

This past month I participated in another awesome blogger swap with Pretty Rambles and The Vintage Modern Wife. This one was called the Farewell Summer, Hello Fall swap. With this swap we had a partner and a $15 spending limit and we were supposed to send the items we want to hold onto from summer and the items we look forward to for the fall.

I sent my partner fun summer nail polishes, a flavored (bottle of) lemonade, a mug, hot cocoa packets, and some nice soothing bath salts and I received this package in the mail
A makeup set, travel bottle set and a candle holder. I love blog swaps!

That Was Awkward...

Last night was a fun night, we went out to dinner with a friend who was visiting from Arizona (where we used to live) who was in Portland for a business conference. I have been SUPER tired this last week, between sick babies and daily life I am just beat down, but I knew it would be fun so we went. Anywhoo we were sitting at dinner and we were just talking when my eye started to twitch, you know that tired twitch that lasts about 4.2 seconds and you can't control it. The worst part about it is that it happened every time he looked at me. Instead of just going with it, and letting the twitch take place I tried to compensate by doing something that looked like this.

Words cannot explain why I thought this would be better then a 4.2 second tired eye twitch, but I did. It was one of those times where you are doing something and the whole time you are thinking "why am I doing this? It looks weird, I probably should stop" but you keep truckin' on. I am not sure if he noticed, it probably wasn't as extreme as I remember, but I certainly am glad I don't have to see him for a while, and hopefully he can forget the scary-eye-twitch-compensation thing I was doing.

BT-Dubs my eye is still twitching, so I stuck to wearing shades in public instead of doing the above, I figured it was better to not scare the children.

This reminded me of another embarrassing moment I had when I was in high school, this one makes me turn red just thinking about it, but I will share it.
We were on our way home from the store, and we were stopped on the corner a couple streets down from our street and I saw the tiniest cutest little puppy just walking on the corner.
I looked around and saw no one, it wasn't wearing tags, so I assumed it was a stray, wouldn't you? My sister got out of the car and I started saying "OMG give me that dog, it is so cute, let's take it home" and things of that sort over and over. When all of the sudden (after my sister picked up the dog) we heard someone say "excuse me" we looked back to see a yard full of people and a guy said "that's our dog." Um wow, how did I miss all those people? Knowing full well that they heard my rant about their puppy and saw my sister almost steal it, I slumped down in my seat and we continued on home. The worst part about it, this only happened 2 streets down from mine, so I saw these people and the puppy I had tried to steal often. Nothing like being reminded of an embarrassing moment um like every other day, it still stings.

Question of the Day: Did you have an embarrassing moment this week?

*Side note: I found this photo on a Tumblr called eye twitch, seriously it is all dedicated to an eye twitch.

Shake Your Groove Thang'

Yes, I do realize that some of my blog posts as of lately have been song titles, it is not really on purpose.
I feel light years behind what is popular these days, I am not very old (26), yet I feel like a granny when it comes to trends in music and such. I mean come on I only learned what YOLO meant about 2 months ago (true story), but as you can see I am not the only one.

So needless to say, when it comes to music, I am behind, and unaware of things that are not super mainstream, can you help a sistah' out? I need some new work out tunes, and just some new everyday tunes
Here is my current workout playlist, and yes I know it's called 'work put', I just have not fixed it yet.

Question of the Day: What is your favorite song? I like every genre except for heavy metal, no thank you.

Hot Topic Tuesday: Migraine Triggers

So as I have mentioned before I have killer migraines. Last weekend, I was down and out with one, even yesterday I had one most of the day. They seem to come in 3-5 day spurts and nothing eases them up :(
Yesterday I decided enough was enough, and I decided to do more research and try a little harder to figure out what could be triggering them. I had a couple suggestions on Facebook and one of them was to drink lots of water. I must admit I am horrible at drinking water, sometimes entire days an entire day will pass by and I think "I haven't had any water today", bad news bears, especially for people trying to lose weight and work out. I decided my first step would be to drink lots of water.

I have also been doing really bad with junk food, I have been staying under my allotted calories for the day, but it has been filled with junk, no bueno. So you guys are my witnesses to my 2 new goals for this week:

1- Drink LOTS of water (at least 100 oz per day)
2- No more processed/sugary foods

I am going to try these things this week and see how the migraines are, my next step is to cut back on dairy, but I really enjoy cheese :)

Question of the Day: How do you make sure you drink enough water during the day?

I LOVE Presents

I really love giving presents, so when I saw the Mug Swap opportunity with Yellow Umbrella Designs and Pointing Up I was in! Along with gift giving I also really love getting mail, honestly I watch the mailbox during the day, I am completely normal, right?

I was anxiously watching the mail awaiting my mug, and one day after returning home from running errands I saw the box! I was so excited, Heather of Lawless Life sent me this beauty

I love it! First of all it is mostly pink, which is my favorite color, it is portable, not big and clunky. She was spot on with this one, thanks Heather!

I had the opportunity to give a mug to Anissa of Chasing Hailey, who has an awesome blog (go check her out!).

Dummy

So I am a total DUMMY. I had no clue that when I replied to comments on my blog that no one could see them...So I am now slowly going through all the comment e-mails that I still have and replying, I am sorry if you were someone who thought you were ignored :(

Please forgive me, and make sure you are not a no reply blogger so that you will be able to see my replies to your comments.

(2nd) Question of the Day: Did you know this about Blogger? Or am I the only one?

On The Edge of Your Seat

I know you have all been on the edge of your seats waiting for my weekly weight loss update, and I know it's been missing... so here it is since the last weigh in I have gained 2 lbs.
I am not mad though, because I have been losing inches and my body feels so much tighter. I have also been eating differently, the biggest thing is I don't eat much in the evenings, which used to be a HUGE problem for me. If I have to eat I try and make it something healthy, so I start out with apples and veggies, then move on from there.

Jillian Michaels is annoying as ever, so I decided to not hang out with her for a few days, today was my first day back and it sucked. I now know that I HAVE to work out everyday, or my body goes into shut down mode.

On a better note, I have made 1 sale for my San Diego trip, I still have lots of goodies for sale if you are interested :)

Question of the Day: How is your fitness/weight loss going?

Shake Your Money Maker

I know that my sister Gabi has only been gone for 13 days, 18 hours, 13 minutes and 2 seconds, but I miss her :(  So naturally I want to go to USD Family Weekend in October. One problem...

$$$  MONEY  $$$

I don't have enough, and I need some. So naturally I am doing what any sane person would do, selling my possessions. Let me explain, I won't be having my kids wearing the same outfit everyday, but we have lived with my parents for 3 years. Milton says we will be out by the end of the year, but I am not holding my breath, so I am selling all the things we have had in boxes for over 3 years. I am having a virtual garage sale on Craigslist. I am selling girl clothes, newborn- 6 months, kitchen stuff (pots, pans, etc.), a Coach purse, books, blu-rays, a blu-ray player. You get the point, I will let you know how much $ I can raise, I need about $700 for us to go to San Diego and I FULLY intend to raise that in the next 4 weeks, wish me luck! Do you have any ideas for quick money making? No I will NOT be shaking my money maker, that is simply a title people. Get those minds out of the gutter ;)

Question of the Day: Do you want to donate to my cause?Truly kidding, but do you have any suggestions?

Welcome to the Followers to Friends Blog PARTY! I am Myranda and you can go here to see more about me, stay awhile and let's be friends ;)

What Were You Doing?

What were you doing on this day 11 years ago? I was getting ready for school, I remember wearing my cheer leading uniform because we had a game that night. I saw the news and it was unbelievable, I felt shock, hurt, scared, hopelessness. I walked around that day in a complete daze, the sky seemed dark and hazy, everything seemed different.

As we remember what happened on September 11th, 2001 let's especially remember the people who suffered a great loss that day. Please take a moment to send a prayer or a comforting thought their way, and if you lost someone I will do the same for you. I cannot imagine the hurt that you still feel everyday, but especially today.

Question of the Day: Will you take a moment to remember all who were lost on this day 11 years ago?
