Hello and Goodbye Puerto Rico

We recently came back from a 10 day trip to Puerto Rico and St Croix, and it was lovely. Of course we couldn't just snap our fingers and appear there so we had to travel for over 12 hours and that was just glorious...First let me paint you the picture we traveled with
*3 Large suitcases
*3 Car seats
*1 Pack and Play
*5 backpacks
*1 purse
*3 carry on bags
*1 double stroller
10 other family members with their stuff. Yes all 17 of those items were just for my family of 5.

Once we got all checked in at the airport and were waiting for the plane it was around 8:30 PM and we were all excited. Clearly the people around us were not, I can understand why seeing a large group with 5 children wouldn't make me you exactly pee your panties with excitement. But they don't make airlines exclusively for children so too bad for you kids are allowed on planes with the general public.

When I say we were set with entertainment and snacks I mean we were SET. We had Leap Pads, Tag reading pens, books, movies and portable DVD player, full on snack packs, sippy cups, water bottles and much more, there was no way these kids were going to cry or be bored on my watch. So what happened? 1 hour in all hell broke loose with the littlest missy, she lost it, and it was only 10 PM and we had over 4 hours of travel time left, oh happy day! To make matters worse when the baby accidentally even brushed the woman next to me she flinched like I was going to punch her. Finally after multiple bouts of tears, screaming fits and snacks thrown across the aisles they were all asleep, and we landed 40 minutes later. I only felt a teeny bit bad for the airplane cleaning crew, because we left a massive smushed snack mess in that plane.

It was 5:30 AM local time when we landed in NYC and only 2:30 AM Portland time, so we gathered our 85 pieces of luggage and went to wait for our next flight that was in 3 hours. I am so grateful that Jet Blue has an indoor play area in JFK, because without that well you can imagine what it would have been. I was so happy when 7 short hours later we finally landed in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Ahhh sweet relief.
In Puerto Rico we met my husband's grandpa, his grandma and his two aunts. They were super duper awesome and welcomed us into their home, fed us and loved the kids, basically they did exactly what grandparents are supposed to do. The girls were sad when we had to leave Puerto Rico, but that's ok because we came back just a week later, for PR part 2. I was horrible at taking pictures this trip, but I did get lots of beach pictures, enjoy and come back tomorrow for part 2 of the Caribbean trip recap.

Question of the Day: Have you ever visited Puerto Rico? Do you want to?

There will be a giveaway on Thursday so make sure you come check it out!
